These changes were agreed following discussions with the Fastershire Project Team, Gigaclear and BDUK (part of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport).
As a result, those properties in the Newent and some in Mitcheldean County Council Divisions that were part of the existing Gigaclear programme and will be transferred to BDUKs Project Gigabit programme.
Project Gigabit aims to increase access to gigabit capable broadband to UK properties, this will mean that these properties, once upgraded will have access to Gigabit capable broadband and the timescales for BDUK’s Project Gigabit programme are currently being discussed.
To support any properties that may be affected by this change, Gloucestershire County Council is reviewing what interim support it can provide through Fastershire’s Community Offer. A formal review of the Community Offer is taking place between now and the end of March and if agreed affected properties will have the opportunity to see if there is an appropriate interim solution available.
